Beat Builders

 

Music is the connecting theme to help students explore concepts of digital citizenship, coding, app design and gain skills with a range of common applications. Students will also create and share an original song.  

Students will reflect on what activities they most enjoyed and see how these skills are used in a range of careers — from sound engineer to software engineer, and social media manager to data analyst.

Beat Builders Unit Details

Ideal grades: 5-6

Length: 10-15 hours (Lessons: 7, Extension lessons: 5) 

 

MATERIALS

  • Enough computers for a 1:1 ratio during class
  • Internet connection strong enough to stream videos from multiple devices at the same time
  • Access to FREE CompTIA Spark online learning platform

To make these units as accessible and easy to implement as possible, all lesson plans have been developed using only online tools that are available to educators and students at no cost (free registration may be required).
